We hear that a handful of Whitman Ladies enjoyed a great STEM Saturday morning at the Long Island Institute of Technology recently! The girls absolutely loved the trip and were so engaged in the interactive workshops that were offered. Some favorites included the drone and Arduino workshops. The girls walked away talking about getting Arduinos to play around with at home! The keynote speakers were phenomenal. Justine Smith (BASF), Mary Ellen Seale (co-founder of the National CyberSecurity Society) and DeAndra Jean-Louis (Anaplan) all shared their challenges as women in a male dominated field, but inspired the girls in the room to overcome adversity and embrace the field that they are passionate about. To top the day off, one of our students, Annelise Campo, won a Samsung Galaxy Tablet at the end-of-day raffle!

Way to Go Ladies…making South Huntington Proud!
