Maplewood Principal Dr. Vito D’Elia congratulates his Town of Huntington Youth Writers Contest winners Samantha and Lauren Dinstel, and Taku Kritz-George.

We are super excited to announce three winners from Maplewood Intermediate School who placed entries in the Huntington Youth Writers Contest. Congratulations to: Taku Kritz-George – 1st Place for Grades 4-5 Short Story (Mrs. Vargas) Samantha Dinstell – 2nd Place for Grades 4-5 Poetry (Mrs. Garafalo), and Lauren Dinstell – Honorable Mention for Grades 4-5 Poetry (Mrs. Ciccarelli).

“I really enjoy creating different characters to go within my story and, similar to a video game, I can create a whole fantasy universe,” said Taku who won first place with his short story. And as you might have guessed, Taku, who is in Ms. Vargas’s fifth-grade class, loves to read, mostly fantasy novels.

We look forward to the students being honored on May 9th, at 7 PM, at Stimson Middle School. Congratulations on a job well done!
