On April 11th, Maplewood and Countrywood joined together to celebrate their First Reading Buddies event.  The Maplewood and Countrywood Site-Based Management (SBM) committees partnered to share in a special event where Maplewood fifth-graders buddied up with the Countrywood Kindergartners to share in the joy of reading.  “Maplewood’s fifth-graders love to come back to Countrywood and see where they started in Kindergarten,” said Countrywood Principal Mitch Levy. “It’s a great time of year when our kindergartners can read back to their 5th grade buddies as well.”

The smiles were abundant during the event where the children created new bonds with their reading buddies, making this day more than memorable! “This was a wonderful day that our students will remember for a long time to come,” added Principal Levy. The fifth-graders will be back for the next chapter with their Countrywood buddies on May 22nd.
