Coach Rufus Shepard on his track star in the Long Islander News: “She has improved every race since she started winter track, she just gets faster and faster,” Shepard said. “I’ve been coaching for 20 years and she’s not only the most coachable athlete, but she also has an impeccable work ethic.”

Freshman, Gianna Paul continues to set the mark as she grabbed two 1st place medals this past weekend at the Long Island Elite Invitational.  Her first win came in the Long Jump with a personal best and a school record 18' 5" leap.  Her second event, the 300-meter dash, saw her not only improve on her school record by running a 40.12, but it also set a meet record.  On March 2nd, Gianna runs in the NYSPHSAA Championships at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island against the best in the State with hopes to be on the podium once it's over.  Good Luck Gianna!

PS:  That time of 40.12 puts her 10th in the NATION for that event.....not bad.

The Long Islander News just published a nice piece about Gianna and you can read it using the following link:
