As the saying goes, “Still waters run deep…” Maplewood Intermediate Schools nominee for New York State Teacher of the Year is a quiet individual whose focus on his students distinguishes him as someone quite special.

Mr. Adam Winters is a special educator who cares for each of his students and supports them as they become their “best selves.” A colleague describes his “…quiet demeanor and soft nature (which) can be seen in the way he speaks to his students during lessons while walking in the hallway and while prompting them during assemblies…”

One parent wrote,” Mr. Winters is an outstanding teacher! Our school district, as well as the students he teaches, is fortunate to have him. He is kind, compassionate and one of the most patient teachers I know… He has a gentleness that allows him to develop trust with his students. That trust ultimately allows him to engage his students and enhance their learning experience…”

Mr. Winters is a wonderful role model for his students. They love him and wish to be like their teacher. One student wrote, “…I think Mr. Winters should be Teacher of the Year. He likes to teach me reading and math. Mr. Winters is very funny!”

Don’t miss the opportunity to recognize Mr. Adam Winters and the other nominees for Teacher of the Year at the Board of Education meeting at Whitman’s PAC on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m.
