The Gugliotta Basketball Tournament opened its 30th-year celebration this past December with a visit from Bob Joyce, Class of '69 and Walt Whitman's first 1000-point scorer.  Bob amassed 1056 points from 1966-1969 in the days before the 3-pointer.  Bob went on to star at Stetson University and returned to present his 1000-point ball to the trophy case.  Joining Bob were family members as well as Ed Martin, Class of '47 and a member of the Wildcat Hall of Fame as he celebrated his 90th birthday with the 'Cats.

Also honored at the Gugliotta’s 30th, and in appreciation of his nineteen-years of coaching the boys JV Basketball team at Whitman and for all his hard work and dedication to our basketball program, retired coach Curt Russell was presented a signed game-ball from coach Ray Eatmon, retired varsity coach Tom Fitzpatrick, and assistant coaches Antoine Aguido, Kieran Elmore, and Anthony Brazill.
