Xanadu Award Reflects a Neighborhood Where Creativity Hangs Out

In a recent Superintendents weekly Newsletter, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jared Bloom in the Curriculum Office offered his congratulations to Xanadu Advisor and Whitman English teacher Mr. Joseph Pipolo and the staff of Xanadu; Cosette Brazeau, Sarah Choudhary, Mabel Bassi, Cali Sullivan, Anna Edwards, Deanna Tabibzada, Lauren Gotard, Katherine Gotard, Lily Soares, Zack Slansky, and Benjamin Joseph, for being chosen as the only digital publication from New York State and one of the twenty-five finalists for the Columbia Scholarship Press Association’s Crown Awards. The ceremony will be in New York City in March 2019. This prestigious award honors student publications based on overall content as well as design, photography, concept, coverage, and writing. Walt Whitman's Xanudu publication was one of 1,100 publications that were reviewed by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
