Thank you Reverends Evelyn Digsby and Saba Mchunguzi and the congregation from the Unity Church of Healing Light who graciously donated backpacks, each filled with school supplies. Representatives from the church were at the James Kaden Administrative Office on the second day of school to donate over 166 backpacks filled to the brim with school supplies for needy elementary children in our district. “The backpack donation was a wonderful opportunity to be able to collaborate with our community partners. It was a great surprise to see over 166 backpacks donated and was a true testament to the relationships that we have established here in South Huntington,” said Assistant Superintendent of Student Services April Poprilo as she expresses her gratitude for this event.

“All the hours you and the members of your congregations put into making this happen is a true blessing,” said South Huntington Superintendent Dr. Dave Bennardo, as he helped unload the backpacks. “We are incredibly grateful to Unity Church of Healing Light, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington and Gathering Light Interspiritual Fellowship for their generosity and untiring friendship to our South Huntington community. There are countless students and families whose burdens were lightened and lives brightened by this kindness and we are forever thankful.”
