Math Challenge Energizes Maplewood

Maplewood students were motivated to apply their best mathematical practices during the first annual Math competition.  Mr. Keogh & Ms. Colon, the Maplewood math specialists, used an online assessment game called Quizizz to challenge each classroom with grade-level appropriate math questions. Students received instant feedback as the game showed live results and the top student from each class later moved on to the final challenge round. In third grade, the top overall student was Frank Cavallone from Mrs. Gillan/Mrs. Columbano class. In fourth grade, the top overall student was Mikey Carr from Mr. O’Connor’s class. And in fifth grade, the top overall student was Jack Marr from Mrs. Gomez’ class. The following students were all also finalists in the math competition:
