Dear South Huntington Family Members:

As we are all painfully aware, our community suffered a tragic loss in the passing of beloved Whitman teacher and Wrestling Coach Vincent Altebrando.  Our collective hearts are broken by the loss of this remarkable educator, mentor, parent, and friend, and our school community wants desperately to honor the memory of our fallen brother.  With this in mind, our teachers, students, athletes, class officers, and Booster Club have decided to hold a candlelight vigil on Wednesday evening, April 25th in recognition of Coach Altebrando’s brilliant legacy.  The vigil, which will include a short walk that replicates a small portion of Mr. Altebrando’s daily run, will begin at 8 PM as participants gather in the North Gym.

The South Huntington Family invites students, parents, staff, and community members to attend and be part of this “life celebration.”  Please remember that parking might get tight as the evening progresses so plan your arrival accordingly.

Again, we are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support that has followed Coach Altebrando’s passing, and know that our students, staff, and the Altebrando family appreciate your kindness.

With Heavy Hearts,
