Highlights from Whitman's International Night

The Mulvihill-Lynch School of Irish Step Dancing, formed in 1996 under the direction of Debbie Lynch-Webber and dance master, Jerry Mulvihill, has become one of the most well known and recognized Irish dance schools in Suffolk County.

The Walt Whitman World Language Honor Society held their annual ‘International Night Fundraiser for Unicef’ just before the Spring Break and with plenty of great international foods to sample, guests enjoyed performances by many of our talented students.

The Mulvihill-Lynch School of Irish Step Dancing got the evening off on the right foot with a spirited group of performances. Whitman junior Max Fischer left the violin in its case and opted for the dance floor where he also excels. Many of our Whitman events feature the Step Dancers, and it’s easy to see why as they captured the audience's attention with their rhythm. Singing in ‘Perfect’ Italian and Spanish, sophomore Janna Garden nailed it.

New this year, the Asian Culture Club added lots of fun and talented dancing as they performed a K-Pop remix. Bothers Ben and Josh Joseph were in perfect harmony playing the Israeli National Anthem, and our Latino Heritage Club Dance Troup performed with distinction with brilliant and colorful native costumes.

The talented Rena Shapiro, singing ‘Sammi Vicino Non Te Ne Andare’ by Matsushiba Taku, and Karina Lourdes Coto, singing Un Poco Loco from Disney’s ‘Coco’ closed the night with style and grace.

The evening was very successful with the donations going to Unicef. Thank you all who participated and to our community businesses for their generosity. Great job by World Language Honor Society officers Kathleen Hoppe, Aamash Mussa, Daniela Pasquarello, Iza Choudrey, Natalie Ugenti, Jackson Lin, Joseph VanGostein, and Julia Fisch and the club’s advisor, Ms. Aileen D'Addario.
