Ms. Olga Nieves, a Countrywood Teacher Assistant, was selected as the recipient of the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE) 2018 Bilingual Instructional Assistant of the Year Award.  Olga was recognized at a special ceremony during the 41st Annual New York State NYSABE Conference, which was held today, March 15, at the Huntington Hilton.  Olga Nieves' dedication and loyalty have contributed greatly to the success of the Dual Language Program and the school community at large.

“Olga is an incredibly talented, creative, and conscientious bilingual teacher assistant who truly enjoys working with young impressionable children,” said Countrywood Principal Barbara Kenney to the conference attendees.  “Olga's guidance and nurturing manner create a feeling of mutual respect for all students, teachers, and parents. She is sensitive to the linguistic diversity of her students and utilizes multi-sensory strategies to support student understanding.”

Congratulations to Olga Nieves, the Countrywood and South Huntington school communities are proud of you!
