In conjunction with Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss, Countrywood invited many distinguished guests to participate in their fifth annual Community Read-in on Friday, March 2, 2018.  This was a special day to celebrate our love of reading.  South Huntington staffers including Dr. Bennardo, Mr. Fallon, Ms. Poprilo, Dr. Bloom, Mr. John Murphy, Mr. Toto, Dr. Murphy, and Dr. Michaelian joined Countrywood’s other invited guests including Lynn Cacioppo, Ms. Jackie Hill, Ms. Talledo, Ms. Farmer, Ms. Scileppi with a special four-legged guest, Ms. Clancy, Ms. Giacalone, Ms. Jonza, Ms. Carol Davis, Ms. Van Tassell, and Ms. Barbato, in this reading event.  In addition, Huntington Manor Fire Chief Chuck Brady, and Board of Education members Laura Carey and Andrew Bronson shared their love of reading with the students. Huntington Town Hall was also well represented with Supervisor Lupinacci, Town Council members Mark Cuthbertson, and Joan Cergol and Ms. Jennifer Satchell, a representative from Councilman Cooks office.

As adults, we know that reading is one of the most significant learning experiences for children.  This program was enjoyable for students and teachers, as well as rewarding and memorable for guest readers. Community Read-In is our opportunity to make a difference and show our children that reading is FUNdamental!
