February is an exciting month for the first-graders at Oakwood. Many of the first-grade classes have been keeping a daily log of how many days they have been in school and they looked forward to finally reaching the 100th day.  Classes have been learning about groups of ten all year-long. They know that 100 items can be divided into 10 groups of 10.  They have also been skip-counting by 10’s, 5’s, and 2’s since September.  Mrs. Finnegan and Mrs. Galano’s class have decided to try a fun twist on this tradition. “Since Valentine’s Day and the 100th day of school fall on the same day this year, we will be celebrating the 101st day of school,” said our creative teachers.  “We will all dress in black and white like Dalmatians from the movie 101 Dalmatians! The children will also bring in a “doggie bag” full of 101 items. We look forward to a fun-filled day of learning!”
