Walt Whitman High School hosted The Whitman Winter East Coast Regional Dance Team Championships in mid-January. This was South Huntington’s Third Winter Spirit Championship Competition. Dance teams came from all over the Tri-State area, showcasing the talents of so many students and dance programs.

Our congratulations go out to the Walt Whitman Varsity Dance Team and their coach Kiva Boozer, who was awarded 1st place in Hip Hop, 2nd Place Kick, 4th place Pom, and 6th place Jazz. We are equally proud of Stimson Middle School’s Dance Team and their coach Nicole Willis, who placed 1st in Pom, and 1st in Team Performance! Bravo to our students and their coaches!

Our talented students and coaches performed with distinction, adding a special touch of athletic and artistic class to our school community. We also join in thanking the numerous Dance Team parents who labored tirelessly throughout the weekend to bring the prestigious competition to our schools. Of course, our South Huntington family offers special praise and gratitude to Jeff Hindla of Huntington Honda and Rupi and Tony Parmar of Mathnasium for their contributions of monies to fund the show. We are so very fortunate to have partners like Huntington Honda and Mathnasium who genuinely care about the quality of our schools.

It is a little-known fact that the Stimson Dance Team, which performed so beautifully at the NDA Championships, was made possible in large part through a donation by local Chiropractor Dr. Jodi Knott. We thank Dr. Knott, and praise her for making South Huntington Dance her own personal cause.
