The Varsity Girls Cross Country team started off the season with a win over Lindenhurst with a score of 31-36 last Tuesday at Red Creek Park in Riverhead. The team puts in hard work in their daily practices and continues to strengthen as a close group that inspires each other to excel daily. Led by captains Junior Grace Roiland and Freshman Grace Weigele the girls look to make an impact as a team and as individuals with personal bests. In their most recent victory, Freshman Giavanna Manganello and Grace Weigele finished a tough 5K course with times of 23:01 and 23:03 respectively. The team is excited for their next meet on September 26th at Sunken Meadow against Bay Shore and looks to make even further leaps in their progress!
