Maplewood student Sienna Leaver has taken her love of art to new levels. Sienna has been designing and decorating bras that are auctioned off for a very important cause.

According to Adelphi University, the Creative Cups™ project ‘encourages artistic expression in celebration of the lives of those living with breast cancer and those we have lost to this terrible disease. Participants design and build original works of art using bras, which are exhibited and auctioned at a Gala reception in the spring. All the money raised go to offset the costs of running the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program.’

Each bra submitted comes with it’s own story. Sienna’s story this year was called ‘Dandelion Wishes.’  “I love to pick dandelions and make wishes on the seeds as they float in the air,” said Sienna. “My story is about a little girl who secretly makes a wish for a world without cancer.”

“This has been a great mother-daughter project,” said Sienna’s Mom Heather, a Chemist for Estee Lauder. “Sienna comes-up with the design, sketches it out, and we head to the fabric stores in search of what works best.”  “Working on this project makes me happy because I know its for such a good cause,” said Maplewood’s talented fourth-grader.

Way to Go Sienna Leaver!
