Walt Whitman’s Spring Blood Drive held on Friday March 10, 2017 was a huge success!    A record amount of blood was collected despite the best efforts of Mother Nature to deliver snow in early spring!     In the end 175 students came down and 137 pints were collected.  This is approximately 30 pints per hour.  This is truly amazing.  Each pint touches 3 lives- so over 400 people will be impacted by these donations here on Long Island.  Many thanks to the blood drive captains, the donors and even the donors who may have been turned away due to weight or low blood iron, you were part of this amazing day.  Many thanks also to Mrs. Zamow for coordinating the drive and to Mr. Bilello who helped supervise this busy event.    If you did not donate and would like to give, the Blood Drive will be back at the Health and Wellness Fair here at Walt Whitman on March 30 from 4-7pm.
