South Huntington’s STEM coach Ms. Mari Scardapane has helped develop a great relationship with Northwell Health System that is paying big dividends for our students. Last month, 11 Whitman students investigating careers in health care through the SPARK program had the opportunity to participate in an amazing Huntington Hospital rotation through the critical areas of Infection Control, Interventional Radiology, Pathology/Laboratory, Pharmacy, and the Operating Room.  Along the way, the students practiced using the DaVinci Robotic Arm (used in certain surgeries), set mock fractures, examined an excised section of intestine, and witnessed the staff's response to an actual clinical emergency.  The Huntington Hospital staff was truly inspiring, and we look forward to our continued relationship.
