In round one of the 28th Annual Frank Gugliotta Memorial Tournament, held over the winter recess, Whitman senior John Keeler had a career high 18 points followed closely by Brandon Corbin with 11 points. Keeler’s effort earned him an All-Tournament nod.  The Wildcats played even to the Jericho team with the 3rd period edge and ultimately the game to Jericho 57-52. High scorers for Whitman included John Keeler with 18 points and Brandon Corbin with 11 points. Other team scoring in the Jericho game was as follows: Griffin McNally-8 points; Cedric Gordon- 8 points and Maurice DeCarmine- 7 points.

In the tournament consolation round, Huntington opened to a quick lead against their southern neighbors; but the Wildcats took command in the second period, out scoring the Blue Devils 19-6 as the teams took to the locker rooms for halftime. The 3rd period saw Huntington making a comeback but the Wildcats poured it on in the 4th period out scoring their competition 21-12 to complete a 54-37 win.  Whitman Sophomore Cedric Gordon, with 20 points made his coaches very happy. “Cedric had a great game, he’s becoming a force inside and we’re excite about that,” said Coach Tom 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick. Another player who had a big night was senior Brandon Corbin with a double-double 12 rebounds and 11 points along with 6 assists. “I thought Brandon had the most complete game of his high school career that night,” said Coach Fitz. “Brandon made All-Tournament team in the Islip Tournament and has been playing exceptionally well for us.”

Team scoring in the Huntington game was as follows:  Cedric Gordon- 20 points; Brandon Corbin-11 points; Maurice Carmine- 10 points; Jordan Lyons- 4 points; John Keeler- 3 points; Jalen Marks- 3 points; and Kendall Wilkerson- 3 points.

The 28th Annual Tournament ended with hosts Walt Whitman winning the consolation game against Huntington. "I would like to thank all of the spectators who came out to support their teams and once again supported this great cause," added Coach Fitzpatrick.
