Put it in the books.  Year two of the Birchwood/Maplewood after school theatre program was another success.  “After last years’ inauguration with approximately 90 students between both buildings, the program has doubled just like that,” said Director Adam Slawitsky.    “It is truly incredible to see the overwhelming excitement and interest in theatre.”

“This year we put together a 45-minute performance of a show called "Jukebox Time Machine," said Slawitsky.  “This is a show about a bunch of kids who discover a Jukebox that has 4 time-traveling tour guides that take the kids back through the years as they learn about and sing songs from different decades.”  Birchwood and Maplewood’s talented students performed songs such as "Music! Music! Music!" "She Loves You," "Dancing Queen," "Splish Splash," "Vogue," "Don't Stop Believing," "Breakaway," and the title song "Jukebox Time Machine."

The full cast performed the opening and finale all together, while each grade performed two songs by themselves.  “They all worked so hard and it was wonderful to see everyone in the audience enjoy their performance,” said Slawitsky. In addition to singing and dancing each of the songs, there was dialogue that brought each act from one decade to another where all of the students who wanted to have a chance to have a speaking line were given the opportunity.

Thank you to Mr. Slawitsky and all of the wonderfully talented students who participated in this year’s musical theater production. The performances were outstanding.
