The Art of Empathy

Social Workers Shaka Williams (r) and Mark Graciani were still helping with the generous donations long after everyone had gone home.

Social workers Richard Garcia and Jacqueline Carroll had the day shift and business was brisk. It is inspiring to know how much our social workers care deeply for the members of our learning family.

We join in thanking all of the generous community members and staff who donated to our holiday food bank. This labor of love was coordinated by each of our school social workers and supported by our entire school community. The generous donations from the South Huntington Teacher’s Association, individual school Student Governments, and caring parents speaks volumes about the empathy and genuine sense of community that characterizes our South Huntington Schools.

A special thanks to our school social workers, Stacey Fletcher, Ventura Trent, Roberto Toledo, Mark Graciani, Shaka Williams, Richard Garcia, Roberto Torres, Jacqueline Carroll, Jennifer Provda, Johanna Torres, and Ross Meneses. We also thank our social work interns for their assistance. It is inspiring to know that we are a people who recognize the blessings in our lives and care deeply for the members of our learning family.
