Newsday has released their Top 25 Girls Volleyball players today and Whitman Senior Co-Captain Olivia Poplawski has been named one of the Islands top ‘setters.’ The season has just begun, but last year Olivia was selected All-League.  She is now a four-year starter at setter and last season set the single game and single season records for assists, as well as the most career aces record.  Olivia took total command of the court last season, making sure all players were where they needed to be on the court.  She also made many of our offensive play calls throughout the games, telling the hitters what sets to run. “She has improved so much since starting on varsity her freshman year,” said Varsity coach Steve Greco.  “I am looking forward to her continuing to grow as a player and a leader for us this year.”
