Our Maplewood and Birchwood families  "caught the theater bug" this past weekend, as over 100 students strong took to the stage in the first annual intermediate school drama and musical production. This talented group, working under the able leadership of Mr. Slawitsky and Ms. Workman, drew the thunderous applauses of parents, grandparents, family, friends, and staff alike as they laid the foundation of more exciting productions to come.

“Our new Musical Theatre Workshops started in the middle of March,” said Mr. Slawitsky.   “Maplewood rehearsed on Tuesdays and Birchwood rehearsed on Thursdays, until the final week when both schools rehearsed together.”

With this successful inaugural year starting with an overwhelming number of participants, it is clear that this is a program of great interest.  “Our ‘Review’ this first year was a good introduction to doing a show,” said Mr. Slawitsky  “Next year we will pick a show with storyline, plot and characters.”
