The Huntington Town Board recently honored 20 local high school seniors who excel in both academics and athletics at the annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Ceremony.  Each of the winners – one male and one female from each of the 10 high schools in the Town -- had been selected by their school, which provided biographies that Town Board members read at the ceremony.

Congratulations to Robert Bottoni and Zenab Ojibe. Robert Bottoni worked very hard in the classroom and on the football and baseball fields to earn his Scholar-Athlete Award. Even missing his senior football season due to an injury didn’t diminish this young man’s determination. Robert will be playing football at Hobart University next fall where he will be majoring in Business.

Whether she’s on the soccer field, basketball court or running track, Zenab Ojibe always give her all, and like her male counterpart Robert, that includes the classroom as well. Zenab will be entering the pre-med program at Cornell University next fall as she pursues her desire to become a Sports Doctor.

Congratulations to both of these fine students, you make Walt Whitman and South Huntington proud.
