It may have been April 1st, but the students gathered on Whitman’s Performing Arts Center Stage were no joke. It was time for the annual Countrywood’s Got Talent (CGT) and thirty-six of Countrywood’s most talented sang and danced their way into the hearts of the packed audience. This undertaking is the work of Countrywood music teacher Adam Slawitsky and his dedication to our littlest performers paved the way to a memorable evening. “Mr. Slawitsky and his talented students set the perfect tone for the new month, reminding us all that hope springs eternal in the sweet voices of primary school children,” said Superintendent Bennardo in his weekly newsletter.

Who could forget the evenings opening performance of the Star Spangled Banner by AJ, or Noor and Alison performing ‘Had Me at Hello.’ Mei performed ‘Water Lilies,’ Sarah and Shay performed ‘What Does The Fox Say,’ and Brianna gave her rendition of ‘Party In The USA.’

Antonia, Makayla, Sabrina and Diana performed ‘Whip/Nae Nae,’ and Tatiana did a great job with ‘Roar.’ Jordan, Nicolas and Jack gave us the ‘General’s Mandate,’ and Stephanie sang ‘Let It Go.’  ‘Ex’s And Oh’s’ was sung by Maddy to open the 2nd half of the performance, and Emelia, Eva, Sofia and Loren performed ‘Light The Candles All Around The World.’

Lucy performed ‘Ode To Joy,’ followed closely by Julia and Hanna performing ‘Fight Song.’  Nikolette sang ‘Rotten To The Core,’ and Taylor, Paige and Alyssa got everyone’s attention with ‘Hello.’ Kate, Arianna, Maria, and Brooke performed ‘Candyman,’ and Brody, Cormac, Andrew, and Brian closed the evening with the ‘Evolution Of Dance.’

The evening was perfect and these talented students are sure to be in the spotlight many times in the future. Congratulations Countrywood’s Got Talent!
