Oakwood students from Mrs. Milo's dual language class, along with a number of other second grade ENL students in Mrs. Banegas and Ms. Mennella's classes enjoyed an informational excursion to the South Huntington Library. Students were first read a book by Ms. Lisa and were then told about all of the programs, books, CDs, computers, etc. available to them at the library.

The students were so excited to learn about all they could do and expressed a lot of interest in the summer reading program. Students who didn't have library cards were presented with one and then they were given a tour of the library and time to search for books to check out. Students enjoyed reading books while relaxing on the cozy couches. After students received museum pass information, a bookmark and a library brochure, they were allowed to check out their books before boarding the bus back to Oakwood. The students seemed to thoroughly enjoy this experience and are eager to return to the South Huntington Library with their families. It was a great way to spend some time on that rainy day.
