Way to go students in Mrs. Columbano and Mrs. Gillan's class.

Mrs. Columbano and Mrs. Gillan's third grade class at Maplewood was so inspired by a story they read this year called, ‘Beatrice's Goat,’ that they decided to take action. Beatrice is a young African girl who wants nothing more than to go to school. Unfortunately, Beatrice's family is poor and can't afford to buy her a uniform. Through Heifer International, her family receives a goat and is able to sell the milk and purchase a uniform for Beatrice. Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth. Our third grade class was so touched by her story that they decided they wanted to help another family in need. So, they were able to raise $175 through recycling, and purchase a goat and one biogas stove for a village in need.
