South Huntington Technology Integration Coach Ms. Janine D'Elia brings us a fun story about how our Maplewood fifth-graders are sharing their Tower Garden news with their first-grade friends at Countrywood.

Ms. Workman's first-graders interacted in a live video chat via Google Hangout with Mrs. Hatton's students at Maplewood.  During the Google Hangout session, the first-grade students communicated with their fifth-grade “Tower Garden” mentors and asked questions about their hands-on, classroom gardening experience.

The fifth-graders answered their questions in great detail sharing their personal experiences!  Also, Mrs. Hatton's student’s created healthy food riddles that they shared with the first-graders in the format of, “Who Am I?”  This interactive learning experience linked the schools and validated how students at different grade and age levels can communicate and collaborate when creative learning experiences are presented to them!
