Students at Silas Wood 6th Grade Center recently got a chance to experience some hip-hop inspired, dance cardio exercise through the KerBoomkidz program.  KerBoomKidz is a unique mix of dance and exercise movements that improve children's memory and physical coordination.  KerBoomKidz gets its energy from the percussion and rhythm of popular music. Working in all planes of motion, the program promotes functional movements and core training by abdominal crunching and twisting with hip-hop inspired movements.

In addition to having fun through exercise, KerBoomKidz is aligned with National and New York State Physical Education Standards.  The program aims to stimulate and strengthen students' minds by creating a focused learning environment while promoting a healthy lifestyle through creative dance.  Founder and creator Kershel Anthony and master instructor Andrea Racanelli taught our sixth-graders multiple dance moves and created a dynamic dance routine.  Once the students learned the routine they participated in multiple "dance crew battles" to see which crew had the best moves.
