Walt Whitman graduate Laura Schroff - Class of 1970, gave a wonderful presentation at Maplewood Intermediate school recently. Laura is a former advertising executive who is best known for her book: “An Invisible Thread” which is a true account of how a busy sales executive befriends an 11 year-old panhandler on the streets of NYC. Laura epitomizes what mentoring can do for a child’s life.

Laura’s message about compassion, volunteering, and helping those less fortunate resonated with our Maplewood students. “I really love speaking with students,” said Ms. Schroff.  “I loved all of the questions and their thoughts on small acts of kindness.”

Laura has a new book titled “An Invisible Thread Christmas Story,” and will be signing copies of both her books at the Book Revue on December 9th from 7-9PM.
