We are happy to announce that senior speedster Shamar Powell has signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent and will run track for the Binghamton Bearcats in the fall. Powell set a new school, and new county record in the 800 meter with a time of 1:52.27 this past winter.

Shamar has clearly excelled in track while at Whitman, but there’s a side to him you may not be aware of. “I’m looking forward to the classes at Binghamton, because in my second year I get to take integrated Neuroscience and get into all the research part of what really interests me,” said Shamar, who will be a Neurosurgeon some day.  “It’s the people here at Whitman that have made the whole experience so positive for me,” said Shamar. “They have influenced me and I’m glad about that.”

Ranked among the elite public universities in the country, Binghamton University offers students a broad, interdisciplinary education with an international perspective and one of the most vibrant research programs in the Nation.

Congratulations Shamar!
