They are this year’s Salutatorian and Valedictorian, as well as an ‘item,’ so it was not surprising that Isabel Sakarin and John Sparling respectively, got a huge ovation.

While the famous residents of Neverland refused to grow up, it was abundantly clear this past Friday night in Whitman’s PAC, that our high school students are blossoming with style and class.

Neverland-Second Star to the Right Fashion Show, the largest Whitman PTA fundraiser for the school year was the place to be this past Friday night. Whitman junior and senior students shed their ID badges for casual and formal wear courtesy of Men’s Wearhouse, Max n Gino’s, Francesca's, Soccer Magic, Francine’s, Pink Link, and Estelle’s Dressy Dresses.

Teachers Mr. Tom Donlon and Mr. Brian Dreher, armed with a wealth of student stats expertly supplied by Whitman’s PTA president Ms. Shelley Sauer, emceed the evening. The fashion show chairpersons Maria Williams and Laci Wright did a fantastic job coordinating the event and the raffle basket rich south cafeteria was overflowing with an amazing selection. Administrators also donned outfits for the cause. Thank you Principal Kathie Acker, and Assistant Principals: Jon Varlamos, Colleen Grady, and Dr. Scott Muller, as well as Administrative Deans Khali Murrel and Christopher Patronaggio.

A super big thank you to the fashion shows committee: Rhonda Rodriguez, Nancy Hauser, Lisa Desmond, Carol Kirkpatrick, Maria Nemshin, and Shelley Sauer. The model moms Patti Nardelli and Trish Cutillo provided significant behind the curtain support, as well as senior girls’ hair stylist Liz Kaiser.

The South Cafeteria was gift basket heaven, with more than 75 stuffed baskets that offered everything from Disney hopper passes, i-Pads and Brooks Brothers clothing to overnight stays at OHEKA Castle and Atlantis Casino in Reno, Nevada. There was something for everyone, with the proceeds supporting the PTA’s cultural arts programs and scholarships.
