For the month of February, we will step outside the usual box of nominating one male and one female athlete and recognize our 4x200 girls relay team. Our female Athletes of the Month for February are Antoinette Butts Miller, Alexandra Greaves, Amani Howard, and Allysia Jones. As members of the 4x200 relay, each of the girls runs a 200m portion of the race. For Allysia Jones, the only senior in the foursome, spring track will be her opportunity to accomplish a goal she has been working hard at– setting a school record in the Long Jump. Allysia was awarded All-County Academic for the winter track season and will be attending The University of Maryland Baltimore County in the fall where she will pursue studies in Computer Science. Alexandra Greaves was just awarded All County in the 55m Dash for winter track and will expand here repertoire in the spring to include the 100m, 200m, 400m and the 4x100 relay. Antoinette Butts Miller, a freshman, has already established herself as a top-level athlete. Antoinette competes in the 55m Dash, the Long Jump, and her personal favorite the 300m. Amani Howard, a junior sprinter kept busy this winter in the 55m Dash, 300m, and the 2x200 relay. In the spring we can catch Amani in the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100 relay.

Our male Athlete of the Month for February is Thomas Ferrante. A senior, Thomas is hoping to make his college decision shortly where he definitely looks to continue his Epee streak. Thomas finished his high school season with an amazing 38-2 record, earning himself the best record on Long Island. Thomas was also the recipient of the Exceptional Senior Award. He is the County Champion in Epee this year, placed 3rd in the Huntington Relays (a team competition), and 2nd in the Brentwood Tournament. Thomas is an all-year fencer and as such will be qualifying soon for the Summer Nationals as well as heading to Milwaukee for the North American Cup.

Congratulations to our fab-five February Athletes of the Month!
