Thank you parents for all of your hard work and support.

Are you ready for sunshine and the most exciting dance competition of the year? Well, our Whitman Varsity Dance team certainly was, and they just spent a long weekend at the NDA National Championships.  “Our performers combined grit with glamour, passion with poise, and a competitive drive with a collaborative approach,” said South Huntington’s Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Joseph Centamore.

The ‘Nationals’ took place on the stage at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, FL and teams from across the country made the journey to Orlando to compete for the title of NDA National Champion. “Our coaches did an outstanding job in preparing our team and promoting a culture that was conducive to both achievement as well as character.  This team is a family,” said Centamore. And speaking of family, many of the girls had one or more of their family in attendance and the support they showed was instrumental in the success of the team. “The support from our parents and families was outstanding.  It was like we never left home,” said Centamore. “The whole team, represented our community admirably and we are all very proud of them.”

The weekend came to a close with the Whitman team placing 11th in the Jazz category out of the top 26 teams in the nation with a final score of 9.2 score. In a revamping of the of the Kick category Whitman place 7th with a score of 9.1. Congratulations on a job well done to our Varsity Dance Team, under the guidance of Ms. Kiva Boozer and Ms. Nicole Mercurio:  Arianna Carlson, Ashley Corcoran, Catherine Costantino, Katherine Cox, Taylor Greco, Jenna Kilkenny, Marina Kilkenny, Rachel Kilkenny, Corina Lambraia, Rebecca MacLeod, Delaney Mena, Amanda Moletz, Sabrina O’Dette, Pamela Pulvirenti, Madison Repetti, and Victoria Rosa.
