South Huntington’s Silas Wood 6th Grade Center held their holiday music bash just before the holiday break with all of their music groups represented. Congratulations to our incredibly dedicated music teachers who, along with their talented students filled the air with holiday musical treats. Mr. Stanton and his band did a fantastic job for the afternoon performance and Ms. Silvera and the orchestra captured the spirit of the holiday season opening the morning performance. There is no shortage of talent when it comes to chorale in the South Huntington School District, and Ms. Riva and her 6th grade singers showed us in both performances, that from Kindergarten through Walt Whitman, if you like to sing, this is the place to be. “I would especially like to thank our science teacher Mr. Paul Beaumont for his beautiful trumpet solo,” said Principal Steve Toto.

The day also signified Heavenly Hats Day when each student donates one dollar and gets to wear a fun and entertaining hat. "My program was started to provide brand-new hats for cancer patients and other medical patients who lose their hair due to a disease or the treatment of a disease,” said Anthony D. Leanna, who started the Heavenly Hats Foundation in 2001 when he was just 10 years old. Each year Silas Wood students donate hundreds of dollars to this worthwhile organization.

Congratulations to the Silas Wood students and their families for supporting Heavenly Hats and raising close to $300 for this worthy cause.

Happy Holidays to All
