‘Tis the season to be jolly… and also for singing! And what better way to show off the talents of our second-graders than by showcasing their voices and musical talent in Oakwood’s Winter Sing-a-Long. This annual tradition brought half of the second grade classes together on stage to perform some old-time favorites such as Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Jingle Bells, and I Have a Little Dreidle. The students worked for weeks learning the music, words, and hand gestures to these joyous holiday classics. Under the direction of Oakwood music teacher Ms. Pinelli, the students once again took on a new piece this year, challenging their music talents and skills.

If learning the words to these songs wasn’t enough, the students added many percussion instruments to make these holiday songs even more festive. One such selection even featured Ms. Pinelli playing an electric violin.

Over the course of two days, parents from the participating classes came to watch their little performers make magic on stage. And it definitely worked because during the show, not only did we have a ‘snowstorm’ made possible by Oakwood’s super custodian Mr. Chris Stevens, but also a special visitor all dressed in a red suit made a grand entrance… it was Santa!

We want to shout out a special thank you to Ms. Pinelli and her accompanist, Ms. Johana Wu Guarini, who by the way, was a student of Ms. Pinelli’s, for their hard work and wonderful presentation! We also want to wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy, and Peaceful New Year!
