Hosted by the Fashion Institute of Technology, National Portfolio Day was an event not to be missed if you’re interested in furthering your education in the visual and related arts. The day was an event specifically designed for visual artists and designers who were interested in meeting with representatives from colleges accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

Walt Whitman Art teacher Ms. Verna Amakawa put together a group of students who traveled to Jacob Javitts Convention Center in NYC recently to receive valuable input from college representatives as they critiqued student portfolios, discussed programs, and answered questions about professional careers in art and design.

Whether their interest was in architecture, graphic design, animation, game design, interior design, book illustration, film, landscape design, or many of the other areas represented, our students took full advantage for this unique opportunity to learn from the pros and bring their career interests into better focus.
