Whitman senior Jaron Batts has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Lacrosse at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY.  Pace’s Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Tom Mariano and his “Setters” compete as a member of the Northeast-10 Conference in NCAA Division II. Jaron is an outstanding midfielder. His motivation, dedication, and commitment as a team player and leader will be counted on heavily next spring when he finishes up his high school lacrosse career on the Wildcat turf. Last Spring Jaron was the recipient of the Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation “Fran McCall Unsung Hero” Award.

“Jaron is the total package,” said Whitman Varsity Head Coach Robert Howell. “As good as he is on the offensive end of the field, he’s that much better on the defensive end.”  Watching Jaron over the past couple seasons, it's clear that he has a high lacrosse IQ. Countless times we have seen him get out of situations with several defenders on him. “He also has tremendous leadership skills,” said Howell. “The kids listen to him, they respect him, they look up to Jaron, he’s our captain.” Jaron will finds some friendly faces at Pace next fall. Whitman alumni Mitchell Bermudez, Ian Zakow, and Liam Brennan all currently play lacrosse at Pace.

Congratulations to Jaron, his family, and Pace University, they’re getting a true leader!
