On NCAA National Signing Day, Walt Whitman’s Kate Manson made her commitment to play field hockey for the Adelphi University Panthers in Garden City, New York.

Kate is looking forward to joining her new teammates next fall at Adelphi. In the meantime, the Adelphi University field hockey program has earned its first berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament since 1981 after concluding the 2014 campaign at 14-6 and making it to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinal contest.

Kate had a good year for the Wildcats Field Hockey team. “Kate has proven herself to be a dedicated and passionate player,” said Varsity Coach Karen Schmitt. “She has been on the starting varsity squad since her freshman year and has been key to the success of the team.” Field Hockey in the Manson home started early for Kate and her twin sister Emma. Kate’s mom was instrumental in the formation of our local junior league program in South Huntington and the girls embraced the game. Kate is now preparing for Whitman's spring lacrosse season!

Congratulations Kate Manson on your National Letter of Intent to play Field Hockey at Adelphi University.
