The kindergarten classes at Oakwood Primary Center enjoyed participating in a traditional Native American pow-wow. Led by music teacher Ms. Pinelli, the children sang various Native American songs like "The Pilgrims Came to America," "The Turkey Trot," and "Hi Yo Is Si Na Yah," a song from the Hopi tribe. With the help of their art teachers, the children made tom-tom drums out of coffee cans that were adorned with Native American symbols.

Classroom teachers taught the children about Native American culture and made Native American headdresses and vests decorated with picture writing. The students had a great time, and the event was the highlight of everyone’s day.
