First-place Lady Wildcats celebrate their day at the Eastport South Manor Volleyball Invitational Tournament.

We hear from varsity coach Steve Greco that the Girls Volleyball Team played in the 11th annual Eastport South Manor Volleyball Invitational Tournament on Saturday, September 27, and won 1st place in the silver bracket.

In pool play the Lady wildcats finished 1-2, losing to the eventual Gold Bracket champion.  In the playoffs, the team defeated Shoreham Wading River (25-17, 25-16), Shelter Island (25-23, 26-24) and Longwood (25-16, 25-11) to win the silver bracket.

Outside Hitter Emma Kongevold led the offense along with help from our two middles, Ashley Seebach and Jessica Young. Setter Olivia Poplawski ran the offense and had a great day setting up the hitters.  Libero Sammy DeGaray led the defense along with Defensive Specialist Lauren King.   8th-grade Outside HitterAlly DeGaray also contributed offensively and defensively.  Right side Hitter Nicole Rowe added some key swings on offense for us as well.  It was a great day of play, the girls played extremely well together and definitely got a chance to work on some things and get better.

On Thursday, October 2, the girls play in their annual NYIT match.  The Varsity plays Centereach on the NYIT campus at 3:30pm.  Following the match, the team stays to watch the Division 2 NYIT Women's Volleyball team play Dowling.
