The U.S. Army National “Friday Night Lights” Tour were honored guests at the Whitman home football game on Saturday, September 13. Army Staff Sergeant Brad Johnson presented a special commemorative coin for the toss as well as a commemorative game ball to Whitman Varsity Football Coach Mr. Robin Rosa. The Army also made a $500 donation to the district.

The U.S. Army then made a special presentation to a student-athlete they deem possess the seven core Army values that include: Loyalty, Duty (fulfilling your obligations), Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.

Those associated with Walt Whitman and Saturday’s football game identified Walt Whitman senior Rebecca Sansotta as a young woman who embodies all those traits. The U.S. Army presented Rebecca with a plaque for embodying those seven core values.

Congratulations Rebecca, you make Walt Whitman High School and the entire South Huntington community proud!
