Newly retired NBA player Raja Bell stopped into the Wildcat Sports Camp today to speak with the campers and run them through a NBA worthy workout. The basketball sports campers enjoyed their visit from the former Utah Jazz Shooting Guard. “You never know when your opportunity for a big break will come in life,” said Raja to the Wildcat campers. Raja spent some time in Whitman’s North Gym before heading out to the turf field to meet and work out with additional campers.

Raja was visiting South Huntington with his wife Cindy Green Bell, a Walt Whitman alumnus, Class of ’92, and Hall-of-Fame soccer player and their children. The two met in college at Florida International University (FIU) where Cindy played soccer and Raja played Basketball. As a senior, Raja led the FIU Golden Panthers to a Sun Belt Conference tournament title, and a bid in the NCAA Tournament.  Before retiring from the Utah Jazz, Raja played with the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Bobcats, and the Golden State Warriors.  The Family resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
