Coach Steve Greco is please to report that at the recently held Suffolk County Baseball Awards Dinner, three Walt Whitman Wildcats were recognized. Greg Ledbetter received Academic All-League, Ben Black received All-League, and Nick Isernia received All-League honors.

From Coach Greco:

Greg was our starting Shortstop, batted leadoff for us and hit .300.  He had 11 RBIs and stole 7 bases, and was recognized for his play on the field and his work in the classroom.  He will play at Adelphi University next year

Ben was a two-year starting outfielder for us.  He was one of the best defensive outfielders I have had, and batted .325 over his two years playing at Whitman.  This past season he led the team in both batting average and hits.  He will be attending SUNY Oswego next year.

Nick was a two-time Suffolk County All-League selection.  Nick has been the ace of our pitching staff over the past two year, pitching six complete games and two shutouts over those seasons.  This year he also did it at the plate, batting .305 and leading the team with 12 RBIs.  Nick will be playing at SUNY Oswego next season.

It was a pleasure coaching these three players over the past few year’s, they all play the game the right way, hustling on and off the field, and are a great example for the younger players in our program.  They all have bright futures ahead of them.
