Approximately 200 fifth-grade students from Maplewood Intermediate School boarded the Skyline Princess, sailing out of Flushing Meadow/World’s Fair Marina, and headed west to Manhattan.

The trip is an annual rite of passage as the students prepare to move up to the 6th grade. It was a perfect day to sail down the East River and see all the sights.

The day featured incredible weather, and the students represented South Huntington and Maplewood in a manner that would make all of us proud. We did hear from one of the parent chaperones who said the following:  “Every single child was well mannered and respectful, while at the same time having the times of their young lives, dancing and eating with their classmates. As usual, the teachers contributed to the overall fun atmosphere, interacting with all the students, making sure everyone had a great time.”
