even if it's just for a day.

The group is growing each day, and on Saturday, June 7, the staff at Stimson Middle School will be joining thousands of walkers for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness--Jones Beach Walk. Leading up to this event, the Stimson school community has been busy with fundraising. Fundraising efforts, including shave the principal’s head, teacher-for-a-day, and principal-for-a-day, have really added to the donation effort, and a recent tally showed that more than $1800 has been raised to date. Students were able to purchase a raffle ticket for a dollar and have a chance to win a position teaching, acting as principal for the day, or grabbing the clippers for a turn at giving Principal Smith a new look.

Each class had a winner and the students took over at the front of the class. Winning the coveted principal-for-a-day award was eighth grader Kristen Coletti. Kristen is an avid field hockey player and looks forward to trying out for the Whitman team next year. “Kristen is an amazing student,” said Principal Edwin Smith. “We kept her busy today with a number of tasks, including drafting a letter about the upcoming eighth-grade picnic.”

Shaving the principal was an especially fun time for the students and staff as winning raffle names were announced and a handful of lucky students stepped up to the stage, clippers in hand.

Congratulations, principal-for-a-day Kristen Coletti.
