Stomp Out Hunger at Silas Wood may have not yielded Nick Cannon as principal for a day but the Silas Wood community’s effort did produce 2,386 pounds of food to be donated to Long Island Cares. As part of the LI Cares and Silas Wood Food donation effort at the Health and Wellness fair, participants earned tickets for the items they donated and a raffle drawing was conducted and two lucky winners were selected.

Megan Gallagher a 10th Grader at Walt Whitman High School and James Stanton a 6th Grader at Silas Wood both won introductory flight lessons from Long Island based 2BAPILOT Flight School. Flight School owner Danny Waizman is excited to present to both students a flight school package that includes lessons, study books, Pilot Association Membership, and flight school video of the student’s experience.  Each student is able to invite a guest to join him or her in this incredible experience.

Congratulations Megan and James, and thank you to the Silas Wood community for their generous food donations!
