DECA Takes States- Ready for National Competition

We just received great news from Deanna L. Kluepfel, Walt Whitman’s Social Studies teacher and DECA Advisor:

Twenty-four DECA members from Walt Whitman High School competed among 3,100 NY DECA members at the 54th annual State Career Conference in Rochester, NY on March 3-7.  Our students upheld their reputation for professionalism and preparedness at this annual conference with every participant meeting or exceeding expectations in each of their competitive events.

Not every student brought back medals for their accomplishments, but this year, more students than ever were recognized for top performances in their respective events. The following students were 2014 top ten winners at the NY State DECA Career Conference 

Russell Kielawa and Jon Mozoon won 2 medals for top 10 test and top 10 interview in Sports & Entertainment Marketing Team Event.

Ahmad Ejaz won 2 medals for top 10 overall and top 10 in the test in Sports and Entertainment Marketing 

Stephanie Jean won a top 10 medal in Human Resources Decision Making 

Jordana Lanz won a top 10 medal and a first-place trophy in the Human Resources Decision Making 

Catherine Aiello won 4 medals for top 10 performance in the test, both role plays and top 10 overall in the area of Marketing Management

Misha Patel won a medal for top 10 test in Retail Merchandising

Aryan Tabibzada won a medal for top 10 test in Quick Serve Restaurant Management

Kabir Zafar won 3 medals for top 10 in both role-plays and top 10 overall in Quick Serve Restaurant Management

Zarmeen Mussa won 3 medals for top 10 in the test, role-play, and top 10 overall in Apparel and Accessories Marketing 

Natalie Migliore won 2 medals for top 10 in the test and top 10 overall in Principles of Business Management

Chris Davila won a medal for top 10 test for Principles of Finance

David Grey won 3 medals for top 10 test, role play and top 10 overall in Principles of Finance

Stephanie Weinstock won a medal for top 10 interview in Principles of Marketing 

Emily Melinis won a medal for top 10 test in Principles of Marketing

Lauren Re, Siraat Zafar, and Rachid Macer received a 3rd place trophy for Entrepreneur Innovation Plan and qualify to move on to National competition, this May, in Atlanta.
