The Lady Wildcats found themselves on the wrong side of a lopsided first half score in the opening round of the 2014 Girls League II playoffs on Tuesday evening. Up against a big West Islip team, the Wildcats shook off a 28-11 first half and worked hard to claw their way back, going on scoring runs and playing a smothering defense. They outscored their West Islip competitors 11-8 in the 3rd period and continued their comeback in the final period with fast aggressive play. But in the end, the competition answered back with their own fast breaks, and time ran out on the Wildcats game and season. Final score 47-32.

Scoring for Whitman: Rose Pedretti- 10 points, Rosa Portaro- 7 points, Brittney Coleman- 5 points, Casey Martin- 5 points, Sarah Olsen- 3 points, and Anna Rizzo- 2 points.

Varsity Head Coach Dan Trebour and JV Coach Ed Garrone would like to especially thank this year’s seniors Nicole Civello, Brianna DelColle, Nicole Kleet, and Casey Martin for their commitment to the girls varsity basketball program.
